William Blake: Introduction of Songs of Innocence

Piping down the valleys wild,
Piping songs of pleasant glee,
On a cloud I saw a child,
And he laughing said to me:

"Pipe a song about a Lamb!"
So I piped with merry cheer.
"Piper, pipe that song again;"
So I piped: he wept to hear.

"Drop thy pipe, thy happy pipe;
Sing thy songs of happy cheer:"
So I sung the same again,
While he wept with joy to hear.

"Piper, sit thee down and write
In a book, that all may read."
So he vanish'd from my sight
And I pluck'd a hollow reed,

And I made a rural pen,
And I stain'd the water clear,
And I wrote my happy songs
Every child may joy to hear.

図書館実習

図書館での図書、文献の検索方法についての説明を受けた。かなりいろいろなことが範囲を絞って検索できるのでびっくりした。

第3者から見たロンドンの有り体。下層で苦しむ人々、かれらの上層の人々に対する恨みを綴っていいるが、最後の一連の先生の説明は強烈だった。

真夜中の街路。若い売春婦の呪いの声。生まれたばかりの赤子の涙を吹き飛ばし、結婚という棺を性病でからしてしまう。

先週に続いてA君によるTo a skylarkの仕上げを行った。

ShelleyのTo a skylarkを夏目漱石の草枕、シェークスピアと比較して解説した。

この詩は長く、限りなく奥行きが深い。

Skylarkは喜びを100%喜びとして、表現できる。しかし、人間は喜びの中に悲しさが入ってくる。
